Before you know it your thoughts turn poisonous too. If you really crave something, it won’t be long before your thoughts do too. Whatever the poison, I can’t deny – I kinda like it…a lot. Every time you see that person or chocolate bar, sneak a peek at their online profile, or take a slight detour down the candy aisle while trolley racing around Coles. Its like falling in love and maybe you are falling in love with that high. Your heart beats a little quicker, you laugh a little louder and for a moment you feel like nothing can take you down. Let’s not kid ourselves, before it leaves us empty…. What was meant to fill you up leaves you feeling emptier than you ever did before. Maybe in the end if we convince ourselves we will get what we want but realise it costs us far more than we thought it would. It tells you that you are incomplete without this one thing, that it will make you feel alive, that it’s worth living – and dying for. But let’s face it – this feeling is pretty convincing. That feeling of your life is empty without this one thing – like it adds something important, something fulfilling, and something that you feel like you can’t live without – except that you can and probably should. That one habit/place you think is helping but the only thing it is helping you with is denial and maybe a little bit of self-preservation.Nothing gets you like they do…but they don’t really do much for you either.
